Making a Difference to the Health and Safety of The Gold Coast since 1908.Top of Page Since inception, the organisation has undergone significant growth periods in building an effective foundation and structure on which to develop, implement and manage a range of specific prevention, education and rehabilitation services to help drug users and their families. This has enabled us to help in the vicinity of 2500 individuals commence the recovery process. This has been achieved through the input of many people including education, judicial, research and health professionals, clients, the corporate business/ philanthropic sectors and various community groups and individuals who remain wholeheartedly committed to reducing the
negative and often tragic consequences associated with the chronic and habitual use of alcohol and other drugs. On behalf of all involved with Goldbridge, particularly the clients who continue in their challenge to build more meaningful lives for themselves and their families, we give our most sincere thanks. Your efforts have provided many individual and family treatment opportunities, saved many lives from misery, devastation and premature death, and made significant community in-roads to breaking the multi-generational cycles of addiction. Congratulations to all our fantastic supporters for your generous and tireless efforts. Thank you very much indeed.

Project 2000 Top of Page While the recently launched national Tough On Drugs policy has recognised the true value of the project and begun to provide realistic support in providing services, Goldbridge must continue to encourage and rely on community support, as a vital link in developing and delivering programs. Too many people continue to die, too many families are grieving and too many local communities are still paying the economic, social and health costs associated with drug use problems - no one is untouched by this problem.

We CAN and MUST do MORE Top of Page Improving the quality of our lives and developing safer and more supportive communities requires a thorough and determined effort, and this year Goldbridge seeks to embark on an ambitious range of projects to meet community demands for service and these include:
  • Finding innovative and creative ways to meet demands for treatment and reduce waiting times for admission, which might include the provision of day-clients, and an expansion of the out-client support program.
  • Implementing the New Horizons Project, as additional support for "aftercare" clients in their move towards employment and drug-free independent living. This will involve the establishment of a separate facility to act as a Workskills, Education, Training and Enterprise Centre, and also provide the venue for potential out- clients who do not need residential care.
  • oProviding a limited Employee Assistance Program, to assist employers in their assessment and support of valued employees, whose personal problems may he adversely affecting their work performance.
  • Beginning the process of establishing larger and permanent residential premises, which will create badly needed additional living and working space and bring a greater sense of permanency to the project - this is potentially a lengthy project, likely to cost in the vicinity of $ 1 M.
  • Hosting a series of public seminars for families, the development of a Parent Support Group and the production of regular newsletters and a bi-annual journal for public distribution.
  • Supporting like-minded individuals and agencies in their efforts to also provide specialised services which reduce the harms associated with drug use.
  • Increasing our membership base to provide greater input and support in finding and implementing solutions, and positioning Goldbridge to better help itself and the community we serve.
In these ways, Goldbridge seeks to better develop and provide regional education and support services to work towards less reliance on government funding by seeking mutually rewarding business/community partnerships, and to devote energy formalising the "model" and promoting it to others who are interested in Making A Difference to health and safety on the Gold Coast. The case for rehabilitation is clear, it enables recovery, the positive management of individual, family and social responsibilities, a return to employment and contributing citizenship, to say nothing of the incalculable costs of saving human life. While rehabilitation trends go through different cycles with different flavours at different times, few would argue that the notion of providing drug-free treatment for individuals aspiring to achieve, or seeking to maintain, abstinence - is a very worthwhile goal indeed. Goldbridge could not have provided the number and quality of treatment options without community support. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Please consider Making A Difference to the health and safety of the Gold Coast by either maintaining your support, or by joining the Goldbridge family of supporters. Let's all do our best towards making the Gold Coast a safer and healthier community in which to live, work and play. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thank you once again.
